Salam aalykum ! Im a born muslim, i wear hijab, i pray.. but.. recently i just feel like my heart is not in it. Belief is something that i will ALWAYS have but, i just dont feel close to my religion as i used to be... i used to feel so peaceful & i used to LOVE praying, and now im kind-of ashamed to say i do it just because ive taken the habit, and i get lazy to do it. I've lost my strong iman :/ i used to pray at night & all.. i dont know what hapenned. any advice would help! thanks. xox.

Don’t be ashamed! You know what everyone has messed up somewhere in life. Although I may not be the best at giving advice I’ll try my best to advise you insha’Allah. Firstly make fresh wudhu and get back at reciting and finding the true depths of the meanings of the Qur’aan. You feel quickly that your heart becomes so much closer to Allah. Once you keep this up, remind yourself that Allah is speaking directly to you to keep you motivated. If we could see the love and mercy of Allah surrounding us and carrying us through each moment of our lives, even when we are at the lowest point in faith, we would never lose hope that Allah wants only good for us. Stay away from bad company/friends as the Prophet (saw) told us: “The example of the good and evil companions is like a bearer of musk and a person blowing a pair of bellows. As for the musk bearer, he either gives you some, or you buy from him or at least you get a pleasant smell from him. As for the bellows blower he either gets your clothes burnt or you get an unpleasant smell from him.” (Al–Bukharee and Muslim)”. Also sis don’t be tempted by the whispers of the devil. He knew you were a strong muslimah and a solid believer so he will somehow trick you. Also when you’re finished reading the Qur’aan make a du’aa for the peacefulness to return to you. Another thing that can keep you motivated is taking FULL advantage of Ramadhaan which is literally around the corner. Start to pray on a regular basis again, so you’ll be in a habit before Ramadhaan. Always bear in mind that shaitaan is going to tempt you not to, but don’t let him fool you! Go for taraweeh’ prayers during Ramadhaan also and insha’Allahh you’ll be on the road to recovery.
I’ll keep you in my du’aas also …
I hope this helped you.
Keep it up & take care xoxo
